Date: Dec. 15th
    Hello fishermen; Well I am done fishing for the Steelhead on the upper Klamath River. Not because they are not there but moving to fish the Smith and Chetco Rivers for the bigger Steelhead. The fishing on the Klamath river should be good through the winter depends on the water. We have been having some pretty wet weather here the past few days but that is what we want to bring the fish in. If you fish the Klamath bring the warm clothes. Just last week our mornings were just above zero. Lots of ice and frozen pipes. Got the river really cold also.
   The Fishing on the coast has been pretty good. The Salmon fishing was the best we have seen in a lot of years. Saw a lot of fish come in on the storms we had and now there are spawning beds all over in the river. A good thing for the Salmon in the future and a good way to bring in our Steelhead. There have been a few Steelhead in the river for a few weeks but should only get better with all this weather we are having now. The Smith and Chetco Rivers are coming up fast now and are not fishing, but that is good. We should start seeing a lot more fish after the rivers come back down. I am not sure when that will be but get ready for some great fishing when they do. So the rest of the winter is looking to be great. Hope to see you on the river.

Date: Dec. 10th
   Hello fishermen; Hope you all are staying warm. It is really cold here every morning. It has been in the 20's and this morning was the coldest, it was 10 degrees. This has not slowed the fishing down to much. The early mornings are slow but it picks up as it gets warmer. I have been catching a lot of my Steelhead on plugs and bait. I have been using flies also and catching fish. The best fly has been a egg pattern. Most the fish we have been catching are around 3 pounds but this last week I did get a few over 5 pounds. My best day this last week we caught 8 nice Steelhead and a bunch of Trout. That day a plug was the best. The weather is suppose to stay the same through the weekend but we finally have a storm coming in early this week. At least I hope so we can use some more water on the coastal rivers. They are really low and clear and this is making the fishing very tough. So think rain . The Salmon fishing has slowed down, but the good news is that we have seen a few Steelhead showing up. This is a great sign for the winter Steelhead fishing. If you are going just dress warm. Hope to see you on the river.

Date: Nov. 11th
  Hello fishermen; Well the Salmon are all done now on the Klamath River. There are a lot still laying on the spawning beds which is helping to feed the Trout and Steelhead. The Steelhead fishing has been ok. There are more coming in each day. A lot of them are laying behind the spawning beds so I have been using egg patterns or bait. The bite has been a little slow this past week but the lower river is seeing more Steelhead so we are looking good. The weather has not been the best. We had some high water but the river is normal at this time. It is at 1300 cfs. This weather has helped the Smith and Chetco rivers. They both almost hit flood stage last week with the big rain we had. They also came up again from this last storm. They are both now fishing good at this time. These rivers are the last place you can catch a Salmon this late in the season. There are a few big ones also. The good Salmon fishing on these rivers should good for the rest of the month and into Dec. It all depends on our storms. If we get a lot of water it ends early and the Steelhead will start early. So either way we should have some good fishing. Hope to see you on the river.

Date: Oct. 12th
    Hello fishermen; The fishing on the upper Klamath river is still doing great. I am fishing just below Iron gate dam and averaging 10 to 12 fish per day. We are having some even better days when the fish really want to bite. The morning are getting pretty cold now, down in the high 20's. Even with the cold we caught 16 Salmon. Most the fish have been around 10 pounds but we have started seeing a few big ones show up the last few days. Yesterday we had 3 over 20 pounds and today we had one that big. Today we saw a lot more jacks which tells me there is another run of fresh fish coming. I have been getting most my fish on bait but have seen a few caught on plugs. I have started seeing a few Steelhead now which is great. I caught 2 the other day and I have heard of a few more from other boats. This is great news for our up coming Steelhead season which will start around the end of the month. The weather is not going to be the greatest the next few days. It is going to be cold and rainy and the snow level is going to be low, so warm clothes is a must. So if you are going out there bundle up and catch that big one. Hope to see you on the river.

Date: Oct. 6th
   Hello fishermen; The fishing on the upper Klamath River has been great. We are catching fish every day and there are even more fish coming in every day. I have been averaging 8 to 10 fish a day. We did have a hard time yesterday with the bad weather, it just put the fish off the bite. But today it was good again. We put in at the dam and pulled out at the fish hook and landed 11 Salmon. Most the fish have been about 10 to 15 pounds with a few over 20. I have been getting most my fish on bait but again I am getting a few to bite a plug. My best day this week we landed 19 fish and had one that was over 25 pounds. Not a bad day on the river. The weather has been up and down this week, but the mornings have been cold and the afternoons warm. So if you are going to fish bring layers and your sun screen. There have been a lot of people out fishing the river so just be nice and not anchor all over and we all will catch fish. Hope to see you on the river.

Date: Oct. 1st
   Hello Fishermen; Sorry about not having a report for awhile, no computer . But anyway the fishing on the lower Klamath was great this season. We had a lot more big fish and not as many Jacks. I had a few fish over 30 pounds and a lot over 20 pounds and most of the rest averaged around 12 to 15 pounds. This is great fishing for a river that everyone is saying is in trouble and so we have to take the dams out. They are full of it. I am now fishing on the upper river near Hornbrook. The fish got up here early are we are Doing great. The Salmon are in great shape at this time and we should only get more in as the days go by. Today we landed 10 fish and only fished until 10:00. Two of these were very nice trout. All the Salmon we caught on bait but we did get one on a plug and the Trout was on bait also. The weather is starting to get colder and the mornings are numbing, summer is over. So if you are going out dress warm and then have your sun screen. This fishing should be good through the month so if you want some great action come the upper Klamath River. Hope to see you on the river.

Date: Sept. 1
   Hello fishermen; I have been fishing down on the lower Klamath River and doing pretty good. The fishing started out slow but we were catching a few jacks each day and seeing a few Adult Salmon. Now the fishing has gotten better and we are seeing a lot more fish. There still are a lot of jacks (Salmon under 22 inches) but we are seeing more of the bigger fish coming in. My best day this last week we hooked 15 Salmon and landed 10 of them. The biggest that day was one about 16 pounds. I have been drifting bait most of the time and seems to be the best thing at this time. Of course things change so plugs may start working also. We are still seeing a few Steelhead. I did catch a couple last week, the biggest was about 6 pounds. We should keep seeing the Steelhead along with the Salmon. If you are a fair weather fishermen, the weather has been great. The mornings are cool but gets plenty warm in the afternoons. So bring a few extra clothes and sun screen. The fishing is only going to get better as each day passes. So if you are looking for some great weather and great fishing the Klamath is the place to be. Hope to see you on the river.

    Hello fishermen; I know Have not had a report for a long time, sorry. But I just got back from Alaska. I am now starting to fish the lower Klamath River. The Salmon are starting to show up in good numbers so it looks to be a good season again. This fishing will be good from now to the end of Sept. The Klamath is just about the only river that we can still Salmon fish on in CA. So if you are looking to put Salmon in the freezer the Klamath is the place. Hope to see you on the river.

      Hello fishermen; Well the Trout fishing on the Klamath River has started now. The fishing has been ok. The good news is that the Salmon flies are starting to come out. They have not been flying yet but will start as soon as our weather gets warmer. I fished the past few days and did ok. I could not get the fish on the surface but wet flies were working. We tried just about everything but drifting the Salmon flies themselves was the best. We landed about 15 nice Trout with the biggest being 18 inches. The fishing should only get better as each day passes. So I am looking for great dry fly fishing all the rest of this Month. The next few days we are going to get a lot warmer so the flies will really start coming out and the fishing should be great.

    Hello fishermen; Well the Klamath River is down now and the trout fishing is getting pretty good. The river is at 1400 cfs and in good condition. I fished the other day and landed about 25 trout. Most of them were 8 to 12 inches but we did catch a few over 15 inches. The biggest was 17 inches. We tried just about everything but the best was plugs. I tried flies a lot but really could not get them to bite them that good. With the warm weather we are getting now the fly fishing should get better. We have had a few hatches but most of them are still to come. The Salmon and Stone fly hatch should be a lot better this year, with the river down. We should start seeing them by the end of the month. This hatch is one of my favorites. The flies I use are so big it makes it easy to see and cast. So if you want some great action and a chance at a big trout on the surface the upper Klamath River is the place. The hatch will last into the later part of June depending on the weather.   Hello fishermen; Again the weather has not been good to us. We got another 4 inches of rain the past few days and the rivers have not been fishing for awhile. Now we have had a few nice days and they are just coming in again and should fish good for awhile. This past week we did ok. The rivers were in good condition and we were catching a few fish. Most the days we had 1 to 4 fish per boat but we did get a few great days in when we had over 5 fish a boat. Now most of those fish were downers but we did see a few fresh Steelhead. We just finished our last derby for the season this last weekend and did pretty good. The total for both the Smith and Chetco rivers was 60 Steelhead. That was 24 for the Smith and 36 for the Chetco. So we had a great time and made some money for our fish hatcheries. The best part of the weekend was that I got to fish General Chuck Yeager and we caught the biggest Steelhead for the derby. It was on the Smith river and he was just under 38 inches long and about 18 pounds. It is great to see a great man get something like that. In all it was a great time and we had some good fishing.     Hello fishermen; Well the weather has not been great for us here. We have gotten enough rain to make up for not having any in Jan. The rivers have been pretty high for the past few weeks but we are getting some fishing days in between the storms. We did have some good weather for the last Cal-Or derby this last week. The first day the Chetco river was to high so all the boats went to the Smith river. The river was high but had some great color. The bad thing was that there were not to many fish to catch. Between 28 boats there was 9 fish landed. Not the great Smith River of the past. I did get one so our team was in the top 4. The next day all the boats went to the chetco river and did a lot better. There was a total of 29 fish landed. The river was high but the color was not bad. Most boats averaged 0 to 1 fish but we got lucky and landed 4. With our team mates getting 2 it was enough to take first place. The best thing about this win is that we won the same derby 20 years ago. Almost makes me feel old. Oh well it was a great time and we raised some good money for the hatchery. The rivers are looking good at this time and hopefully if the weather holds off the fishing should be good. Date: Feb. 13th
    Hello fishermen; Ok now we have gotten the rain we have been asking for and it has not stopped yet. In the last 5 days we have gotten over 6 inches. Now if it was normal out we would be flooded out but these storms are very cold, so there is not much run off. The Chetco river was at 500 cfs the first of this week and with all this rain it is only at 2000 cfs. The good thing is that there is color in the river and so the fish are not as spooky even if it is low. I have been fishing on the Chetco river and doing good. I have been catching 3 to 4 fish each trip. Most the fish have been around 8 pounds with a few in the teens. The hard part of the day of fishing is trying to keep warm. The wind and the rain has not stopped. The long range forecast is for more of the same. If these cold storms keep coming the fishing should be good for awhile. If we get a warming trend it could put the rivers out with all the snow melt. The Smith River is doing good also, with most boats getting 2 to 3 fish a day. So fishing on the Smith and Chetco rivers is worth the drive in the snow. So if you are driving be careful. Hope to see you on the river.

Date: Feb. 7th
   Hello fishermen; Well we have not had that much rain now for almost a month and the rivers are showing it. They are almost to low to float. The Chetco is about 500 cfs which is almost summer level and the Smith is at 1500 cfs. They are up just a little from the last storm that went through. Most that rain was soaked up and did not give us much run off. So I have been fishing on the Umpqua River. That river has a better flow and the fishing was a lot better. I was getting fish every day so it was worth being up there. I was side drifting bait all the time and of course tying a lot of hooks. This river is very snaggy so bring a lot of hooks and gear if you are going to fish it. I did get some nice fish, the biggest was a 19 pounder and few others over 16 pounds. That river is getting clear now also so rain is what we all need to get the fishing good again. There is another storm on the way now and should be here by Sunday or Monday. So I am looking to have the rivers up and fishing better in just a few days. If the rain does hit us. Hope to see you on the river.

Date: Jan. 22nd
   Hello fishermen; Now the weather has been to nice for to long. The rivers are very low and clear and the fishing is not that great. We are getting 1 to 2 bites a day and if you get them you are doing well but if you miss or lose them you are coming home with nothing. We are getting some good days here and there. My best was yesterday when we hooked 4 fish. There were no real big ones but they fought great. The biggest was about 8 pounds. I have been getting all my fish drifting bait. There have been a few biting plugs but bait is working better for me. Both the Smith and Chetco are very low, the Smith is down to 2300 cfs about 14 feet and the Chetco is at 932 cfs. It is getting to the point were we are having to get out and push the boats in some spots. There are even a few on the Chetco that are getting dangerous. So if you are thinking about fishing the Chetco bring some water with you and be careful. There is rain on the way so hopefully it will be enough to bring the rivers up and bring in more fish.     Hello fishermen; The weather is just great here on the Smith and Chetco rivers. Today I was down to a tee shirt most the day. It is hard to believe that it is the middle of Jan and we are having 60 degree weather. We sure do like fishing in it. The rivers are in great shape at this time. The Smith is at 17 feet and the Chetco is at 3000 cfs. The color and the flows are just where we like them but the fishing is tough. We are averaging about 1 to 2 fish per boat. Not the numbers we are used to seeing at this time of year with the good conditions. I am not sure if there are not a lot of fish or the water temp is putting them down. We are getting a lot of snow melt with the warm weather. Oh well tomorrow is another day and it will be a nice one. Hope to see you on the river.

   Hello fishermen; Well we are finally getting to fish on the Smith and Chetco Rivers. The weather has not been good to us. It has been raining a lot and the rivers have been to high to fish, but now they are down enough and we are catching Steelhead. Both rivers almost got over flood stage. Today I fished on the Chetco and did well for the conditions. The river was just over 5000 cfs but had good color. We hooked and landed 4 Steelhead. We had one small one but the rest were 8 to 10 pounds. We got all our fish side drifting bait and a puff ball. The weather is not suppose to get that bad again for awhile, that is what they say but we all know how good they are. But if it does the fishing is going to be good. He Smith River is also doing well. It is holding at 18 feet and is producing some good fish. Hope to see you on the river.

   Hello fishermen; Hope you all had a great X-mas and Santa was good to you. So far he has been for the fishing. I have been having a great year of fishing on the upper Klamath river for the Steelhead. Most my trips I have hooked plenty of nice Steelhead. Have not seen a lot of big fish but most the fish have been around 3 to 4 pounds with one over 5 pounds once in awhile. I have been catching most my fish on plugs but bait and flies have been working also. My time on the upper Klamath is now over and I am heading to the Smith and Chetco Rivers for the big Steelhead. The weather has not been the greatest but at least we are getting some. For a while there, the rivers were way to low and the fishing was very tough. Now they are flooding. The Smith got up over 31 feet, which is 4 feet over flood stage and the Chetco was over flood stage also. This is all good just not at this time. They are both dropping at this time and should fish in a few days if not sooner. There has been some good fishing there already so we are looking to have another good fishing season. So if you want to get that big Steelhead for the wall the Smith and Chetco Rivers are a great bet. Have a great New Year. Hope to see you on the river.

   Hello fishermen; The fishing on the upper Klamath River has been pretty good. I am now fishing for the Steelhead. I am catching fish on every trip. Some days better then others but on the average 4 or 5 adult steelhead has been the norm. Some of the better days I am getting over 10. Most the fish have been about 4 pounds with a few bigger ones. I have been catching them on just about everything I have used. There are still a lot of Salmon spawning so fishing below them is working good. The weather has not been very good with a lot of rain and cold this past week. The snow level has been pretty low and we have seen a little on the river just not staying with us. This good Steelhead fishing should be good on through the month and into Dec. So if you want a good time the Klamath is a good bet. Hope to see you on the river.

      Hello fishermen; I am fishing now on the upper Klamath River for the Steelhead and doing pretty good. The Salmon are all done now and are spawning at this time. We had a great season and caught a lot of Salmon. The best day I had we landed 24 salmon and 2 Steelhead. A day of a life time for those fishermen. It could be you if you fished on the upper river in Oct. Now I am fishing for Steelhead. The fishing has been pretty good. A lot of fish are sitting behind the Salmon spawning beds. So I have been getting a lot of fish on eggs or an egg fly. Most the steelhead we are seeing now are around 16 to 20 inches with a bigger one once in awhile. The biggest I have seen so far was about 7 pounds and that one was on a fly rod. A great fight. I have been fishing anywhere from Iron Gate Dam to Happy Camp. No place has been better then the next so I have been moving around a lot to see different water. My best day so far was on flies, we landed 5 adult Steelhead and about 20 other trout and a few Salmon also. The salmon are not in great shape but do fight on light Tackle. The weather has turned now and we are getting some rain so this should bring in more fish so we are looking to have a great Steelhead season. Hope to see you on the river.

    Hello fishermen; The fishing on the upper Klamath river is still doing great. I am fishing just below Iron gate dam and averaging 10 to 12 fish per day. In fact today was the coldest it has been all season. I never took my coat off all day even when the sun came out. The wind was the worst part of the day. It did not stop blowing all day.     Hello fishermen; The fishing on the upper Klamath is doing great. I am catching plenty of Salmon and seeing a few Steelhead also. This past few days has been up and down. Friday it rained on us for most of the day and then the next day it was hot out again and today the wind was blowing us down river. So we have seen it all in the weather but the fishing was pretty good through it all. It was a little slower with the weather change but I have been landing about 10 to 15 fish a day. Today we did really good, we landed 20 salmon and 2 Steelhead. We have been getting mostly adults all week but today we saw a few more jacks. Most the fish have been around 10 pounds but the other day we landed one over 25 and another about 20 pounds. So there are some big fish in the river. The hatchery is doing well also, their counts are up to 3500 fish and there are still a lot out there. So I am sure they will get their quota. It is good to see the Steelhead now which means we may have another great Steelhead season. So get the light tackle out and get ready for some fun. Hope to see you on the river.

    Hello fishermen; Hope you all are keeping away from all the smoke from the fires. It is really smoky here in the north state. I just got back from my fishing in Alaska. I was fishing on the Kenai river for the big Kings. We had a pretty good season. Most the fish averaged around 30 pounds. I did catch a lot over 40 pounds and a few over 50 pounds. My biggest in the boat was 58 pounds. In fact that day I had 3 over 50 pounds and the rest over 40 pounds. Was a great day on the river. The only bad thing about the summer was the cold weather. It was the coldest summer in 50 years. I know there was not one day over 70 degrees and very few over 60. All it did was rain and blow. Lucky I had long johns with me. Now I am back in the heat. Just can not have something in the middle. I am starting to fish on the lower Klamath River now and will be there until the end of Sept. The fishing is ok. There are a few Salmon showing up and even more Steelhead. The river is in good shape and they are predicting a big run this year and gave us a big quota. So if you are looking to catch Salmon this year the Klamath River is your best bet. Hope to see you on the river.

   Hello fishermen; We are now done with the Salmon fly hatch. The hatch was good but the fishing just was not as good as it usually is. The river was high and still is. This made it tough to fish and the flies not being in front of the fish long with all the current. We also did not have that great of weather either. We did get a few good days in and caught some nice Trout. The best day we landed close to 25 trout and a few over 18 inches. So there were fish just not our 50 to 100 fish days we like. I am now off to fish Alaska and will be up there until Aug. With the closure on the Sacramento River this year I will be fishing the lower Klamath River for the Salmon. It looks to be a great season with a lot of fish. So if you are looking to catch Salmon this year the Klamath is your best bet. Hope to see you on the river.

    Hello fishermen; I know I have not put up a report for a long time, but have had some time off and not on the computer. I am now going to start fishing the upper Klamath River for the Trout. The river is finally coming down now. All the snow we had this winter has had the river really high and not fishable. Now it is down under 2000 cfs and clear. The weather has turned big time now so the bugs are going to be hatching. It was around 50 degrees last week and the mornings were in the 20's and now it is over 90 degrees out and not getting cold at night. So I am looking to have a great trout season. The Salmon flies should start coming out pretty soon. So if you want some great dry fly fishing for Trout June is going to great on the Klamath.
     Just another note, They have decided to close the Sacramento River for the fall run Salmon this year. The runs have been bad the past few years and not admitting that it was their doing the fish and game is taking it out on us. The good news is that they gave a bigger quota on the Klamath River so I will be fishing there in Aug and Sept on the lower river. The fishing should be great.     Hello fishermen; We finally got the rain we have been waiting for. The past week we got almost 3 inches and the rivers are up and fishing great. The Chetco is now down to 4000 cfs and the Smith is at 17 feet. Both have good color now but are getting clearer each day. The rain did bring more fish in and the downers are out there in good numbers also. My best day this week we had 8 fish on and landed 6 of them. We did get 2 nice fresh Steelhead and the rest were downers. Not bad for this time of year. I am getting most my fish on bait but there are a few plug biters. Most the fish have been about 8 pounds this a few over 10 pounds. This last raise in the rivers should keep the fishing good through the rest of the season. The Chetco will close the end of the month and the smith at the end of the next. Hope to see you on the river.

    Hello fishermen; The fishing has been pretty good this past week. I have been on the Chetco river the past few days and averaging 1 to 4 fish a trip. The good thing is that we are seeing a few fresh fish still coming in. Yesterday we had 1 upper and the rest were downers. We are catching most our fish drifting bait and a fish pill, but there are few days that the plugs have worked well also. The Smith River is starting to get pretty clear now and is at 16.5 feet and the Chetco is getting down under 2000 cfs. I fished the Smith river the other day and did very good. We landed 5 very nice Steelhead. That was a very great day and I wish they all were like that. Then the next day we only caught one. What a difference a day makes. We are getting a lot of wind and rain at this time so hopefully it will bring the rivers up some. Today was a lot slower because of the wind, not the rain as much. There were times we could not fish because it was blowing to hard. We did catch fish just not as many as we wanted. Tomorrow is another day. Hope to see you on the river.

  Hello fishermen; The weather is still very nice out, with no rain at all. The rivers are even lower and could not get any clearer. The Chetco is at all time low and hardly has any current. There are still fish in it but they are hard to get to bite without any moving water. Boats are getting about a fish a day. Not very good. You are having to push through a lot of riffles to get down. I have been fishing on the Smith river the past week and doing ok. I am catching 1 to 3 fish each day. Not bad for the low clear water. There are few spots That I am getting a bite or catching a fish in every day. The fish I have been getting have been very nice. They have been averaging about 10 pounds and fighting like they are much bigger. This is very surprising for how cold the water is. The water is around 39 degrees. A lot of the bites we get are very slow because of this. Hopefully we get some rain soon or we will not be able to get through some riffles. Rain is coming but just when is the question.    Hello fishermen; Well we are still having great weather. In fact I am getting one hell of a sun burn on my nose. Hard to believe that just about 2 weeks ago we were not fishing with the river at flood stage. The fishing has slowed down the past few days. The rivers are getting clear. The reason for the slow fishing was all the boats and fishermen we had on the river this last weekend. I could not believe the number of people out on the rivers. You could not look around and look at just the river without seeing a few boats. So if you are looking to get away from the crowds do not come to the Smith or Chetco rivers. We have been catching fish just not the numbers that we were last week, but at least we are catching a few each day. I have been still using bait and a puff ball or fish pills. I think I have caught fish on just about every color in my box so there is not one better then another. Just getting in front of the fish is the secret. Both rivers are getting low and clear. We do need some rain to bring the fish that are waiting to come in. The Smith river is down under 16 feet and the Chetco is down under 2000 cfs. Most the fish we have been catching have been nice bright fresh fish but we are starting to see a few more downers showing up. We will see more downers as the month moves on but there are still a lot of new fish showing up so the fishing will continue to be good through March. Hope to see you on the river.

  Hello fishermen; This past week of fishing has been ok. The water levels are down and the rivers are in great condition but the fish really do not want to bite. I am catching fish every day just not what I think I should for the color and level. I have been getting 2 to 4 fish a day but I am working for them. I did have one great day last Tuesday. We hooked over 10 fish and had our limits around 12:00. I wish every day was like that but we all know it can not be. Most the fish I have been catching have been averaging around 7 to 8 pounds but we are seeing a few big fish show up. The Smith river had 5 Steelhead over 20 pounds just in this last week. I did also get another fish that was 20 pounds yesterday. I caught that one on the lower Chetco river. It was a great fish just out of the ocean and was a great fight. We also landed one that was 15 pounds today. So there are some nice fish out there. The weather is changing now so hopefully it will not rain to much. Hope to see you on the river.

   Hello fishermen; Well Feb is starting out kind of like Jan, a lot of rain. The only good thing is that the snow level is low and we are not getting the run off. The rivers did go out on Thursday but they are starting to drop and will be fishing again soon. The reason the rivers went out was because it got warm out and melted al lot of the snow we had in the mountains above us. But just before that all happened the fishing was pretty good. I was hooking 4 to 8 fish a day. Just not landing them all. The last day we fished we had 5 fish on and landed 3 of them. Most of them were around 8 pounds but we had one that was 14 pounds. It was one that had a heart of one even bigger. It took about 1/2 a mile of river to land him. At least he is still out there to make more. When the weather does slow down we are going to have some great fishing on the Smith River. Hope to see you on the river.

    Hello fishermen; Well the weather has been giving us it all. The past few days we have had rain, sleet, snow and sun shine, and that was all in one day. This morning we started with a inch of snow ever where. It was cold. The great thing about all the weather we have been having the rivers are still in great shape and are actually low. The Smith river is at 16 feet and the Chetco river at 2700 cfs. They are low but they do have some color. The fishing has been pretty good. I have been averaging 2 to 4 fish a day and a few with only hooking a few but not landing them. I had one really good day that we landed 7 fish. That was even with the river clear and on the rise. You just don't know when you are going to get that day of a life time. The fish have all been averaging 7 to 8 pounds with a few over 10. The biggest I have caught this year was a few days ago when we got one bite and landed a very nice 20 pounder. It was a fish of a life time. It will look great on Jerry's wall. That was a day were Quality is a lot better then Quantity. The weather is going to be about the same for awhile so I think the rivers well still be fish until it gets warm and all that snow starts to melt. Hopefully it will be slow so the rivers will not go out. Hope to see you on the river.

   Hello fishermen; The weather has been nice and clear and so are our rivers. The Smith River is at 15 feet and very clear and the Chetco river is at 1000 cfs and clear. The temperature has been very cold. The mornings are in the low 30,s and it is not getting more then the mid to high 40,s in the afternoons. This is bringing the water temperature down also. So some days have been hard to get the fish to bite and others ok. I have been on both rivers the past few days and neither is fishing better then the other. My best day this week was on the Chetco where we landed 4 very nice Steelhead. We are still catching most our fish on bait and a puff ball but with the colder water they are biting a plug now and again. The fishing on other rivers are starting to get good also so we are not getting all the traffic that we were. That is great for all of us and the fish. We have not had any rain for over 2 weeks now and now we could use some, so hopefully we will see some soon. Hope to see you on the river.

   Hello fishermen; The fishing has been pretty good on the Smith and Chetco River this past week. At least we are fishing again. The storms that came through put the rivers out for over a week. So we were watching a lot of water go by and fish that we were not catching. Now we have good conditions and catching a few fish. I have been fishing on the Smith and Chetco and averaging 2 to 3 fish a day. All the fish I have been catching have been drifting bait and a puff ball. Most the fish have been around 8 pounds and a few over 10. I have not got any more big ones yet but I have seen a couple close to 20 pounds landed. The weather has been awesome, the sun has been out and we are in tee shirts by the end of the day. Just have to have a lot of clothes on in the morning. The only bad thing is that there are way to many boats out there. With the river coming down and getting clearer all the boats going over the fish is turning the bite off some. So if you are looking to go fishing just know there are a lot more out there with you. Hope to see you on river.

    Hello fishermen; Hope you all had a great holiday season and are having a good new year. The new year started out pretty good, the rivers were in good shape and the fishing was good. Just as the fishing was getting great on the Chetco river the rains hits us hard. I was getting limits every day and with some nice Steelhead. Most the fish were about 10 pounds and I did get a couple 15 pounders. We have not been fishing this past weekend with the rivers high and muddy. The only good thing was that the snow level was way down and stopped the run off and the rivers are on the way back down. Yesterday there was a lot of snow on the upper Chetco river and was tough just to drive around. Today the sun is out and it is not raining, the Smith river is at 18 feet and the Chetco river is at 5500 cfs they should be fishing soon. They might go back up when the snow melts. The fishing is looking to be pretty good this year. Hope to see you on the river.

    Hello fishermen; Well I am done fishing for the Steelhead on the upper Klamath River. Not because they are not there but moving to fish the Smith and Chetco Rivers for the bigger Steelhead. The fishing on the Klamath river should be good through the winter depends on the water. We have been having some pretty wet weather here the past few days but that is what we want to bring the fish in. The Fishing on the coast has been pretty good. All the water we got earlier has brought the Steelhead in early. Every day I fished there we caught fish. So the rest of the winter is looking to be great. Hope to see you on the river.

    Hello fishermen; The fishing on the upper Klamath River has been pretty good this last week. We had a pretty good day down in Happy Camp the other day. We caught a lot of half pounders and a few adult Steelhead. The best thing that day was bait. Side drifting or dragging it was working. The water was really cold so most the bites were slow but if you noticed them you hooked them. The only thing was biting that light they always did not stay on, but 4 or 5 big ones did. Most the bigger ones were around 20 inches and the biggest was 23 inches. It was raining all that day so the next day we had to go up higher to get clearer water. The Scott River was dumping in a lot of water and was muddy. The bite was not as good but we did get a few. The river is fishing really good again with it back down. The past few days I was on the Smith River. There are not to many Salmon left so we fished for the Steelhead. The river was up and had some color but we did catch one nice Steelhead about 8 pounds. The next few days the river was down and fishing great. We caught are limit every day. There are not a bunch in but there are plenty of bites to get a few in the boat. Most the fish have been around 7 to 9 pounds but we did get a few over 10 pounds. The rivers are down now but the fish are still there just a little spooky. So you have to keep off of them when fishing. It is looking like we are going to have another great Steelhead season on the Smith and Chertco Rivers. Hope to see you on the river.

   Hello fishermen; Hope you all are staying warm. It is really cold here every morning. It has been in the teens and this morning was the coldest, it was 10 degrees. This has not slowed the fishing down to much. The early mornings are slow but it picks up as it gets warmer. I have been catching a lot of my Steelhead on plugs and bait. I have been using flies also and catching fish. The best fly has been a egg pattern. Most the fish we have been catching are around 3 pounds but this last week I did get a few over 5 pounds. My best day this last week we caught 6 nice Steelhead and a bunch of Trout. That day a plug was the best. The weather is suppose to stay the same through the weekend but we finally have a storm coming in early this week. At least I hope so we can use some more water on the coastal rivers. They are really low and clear and this is making the fishing very tough. So think rain . The Salmon fishing has slowed down, but the good news is that we have seen a few Steelhead showing up. This is a great sign for the winter Steelhead fishing. If you are going just dress warm. Hope to see you on the river.

   Hello fishermen; Our Steelhead fishing on the upper Klamath River has been pretty good. I have been fishing from Happy Camp up to Iron Gate Dam and averaging 3 to 6 Steelhead a day. I have had a few days that have been really good but most have been ok. Most of the fish we are catching are on bait or egg patterns and have been averaging around 3 to 4 pounds. There are some Salmon still spawning so the fish are still sitting behind these beds. I am starting to get a few on plugs also. The water is getting colder now so the mornings are a little slow but gets better as it get warmer. The weather has been nice the past few days with a lot of sun shine. This clear weather make our mornings cold and gets warmer in the afternoon. The mornings have been in the low 20's and gets up in the 50's later. So dress warm. I did fish for Salmon on the Smith River this past week. The river started out low and clear but then the rain came and put the river out for a few days. Of course it did not start to fish good until I left. I did catch a few while I was there but none that were of any size. The Salmon fishing should be good there up into Dec. Just depends on the weather. Hope to see you on the river.

  Hello fishermen; Well the Salmon are all done now on the Klamath River. There are a lot still laying on the spawning beds which is helping to feed the Trout and Steelhead. The Steelhead fishing has been ok. There are more coming in each day. A lot of them are laying behind the spawning beds so I have been using egg patterns or bait. The bite has been a little slow this past week but the lower river is seeing more Steelhead so we are looking good. The weather has not been the best. We had some high water but the river is normal at this time. It is at 1300 cfs. This weather has helped the Smith and Chetco rivers. They both almost hit flood stage last week with the big rain we had. They also came up again from this last storm. They are both now fishing good at this time. These rivers are the last place you can catch a Salmon this late in the season. There are a few big ones also. The good Salmon fishing on these rivers should good for the rest of the month and into Dec. It all depends on our storms. If we get a lot of water it ends early and the Steelhead will start early. So either way we should have some good fishing. Hope to see you on the river.

   Hello fishermen; You would not believe the great fishing we are having now on the upper Klamath River. This last storm brought in a bunch of new Salmon and they are biters. Today we fished from the Dam down and hooked over 20 fish and landed 12. And all this was done by 1:00. A lot of the fish we are getting look like they are just out of the ocean. This is really late to be still catching Salmon on this upper stretch. In a normal year we would be done with Salmon by the 15th of Oct. It is a lot of fun as long as it lasts. I think we will be doing good if it does go through the end of the month. The Steelhead fishing has been ok. I fished the past few days for them and did good. I was fly fishing and each day we landed 3 Steelhead along with a few Salmon and a lot of Trout. This fishing will only get better as the Salmon start to spawn. In a normal year they would already be spawning but they are late so they have not started yet. So look for some great fishing this next month. Hope to see you on the river.

   Hello fishermen; The fishing on the upper Klamath River has been very good. The Salmon came up in good numbers and we were able to keep a few fish. The fish were in great shape this year. I have not seen such good meat in the Salmon all the way through the season. The salmon fishing is over at this time. They are there but they just do not like to bite this late in the season. We did land a lot of fish this year. Most my trips we landed around 10 fish with the best day landing 20. The size was a little smaller the first week but we saw a few of the bigger ones this last week. Most the Salmon were about 10 to 12 pounds and the biggest in my boat was 25 pounds. The season for the upper river salmon is always short, so if you want to fish it think ahead. The weather has not been as nice to us this past week. We have had rain almost ever day and one night over 2 inches. The river is up at this time and is flooding down below. The good thing about this rain is it brings in more fish. The Steelhead are here and should be good when the river goes down. Hope to see you on the river.

   Hello fishermen; The upper Klamath River is fishing pretty good now. I am fishing form Iron Gate Dam down. Most the fish seem to be in the first few holes but there are fish moving in each day. I have been on the river every day and catching 6 to 10 Salmon a trip. I have been getting all my fish back bouncing bait. Most the fish have been on the smaller size but all of them are around 10 pounds. The biggest I have seen was close to 20 pounds. These fish at the first of the season are usually smaller so the bigger ones are on the way. Today I caught 10 fish and had at least that many on that we lost. The weather has been cold the past few days and I think this has slowed the hard biters down. Today was one of the coldest days we have had. It did not get much over 40 degrees all day and we saw a few drops of rain. I have caught a few Steelhead also but I am seeing a lot more trout then Steelhead. This is still early so these early ones are a good sign. So look for a great Steelhead run this year. The leaves on all the trees are starting to change colors, so it is nice view. I sure think it is going to be a early winter. We have also gotten close to a inch of rain this past week and snow in the mountains. So dress warm if you are planning on fishing.    Hello fishermen; I am now finished fishing the Sacramento river for the season. It was one of the worst seasons I have seen . Most days a fish or two was a good day. A lot of the days we did not get any. The fish we did catch were good sized, all of them were over 20 pounds and the biggest was at 40 pounds. There were just not the number of fish we need in the system to make it good. And if the Fish and Game says there are they are full of shit…. Anyway I am now fishing on the upper Klamath River out of Hornbrook. The fish are just starting to show now. At least there are fish. I fished yesterday from the dam to the fishhook and hooked 4 and landed 3. We also landed a few very nice Trout. Today the bite started out even better but then they raised the river on us and the bite went off. Before the water came up around 9:00 we had caught 3 Salmon. The raise put us out for the rest of the day but should make the fishing even better for awhile. The new push of water will bring more new fish up. The fish we are catching are not that big yet but these first ones are usually smaller. So the fishing is looking to be pretty good on the upper Klamath river this year. Hope to see you on the river.

   Hello fishermen; Well the fishing has been a little slow for this time of year. I am on the Sacramento at this time. There are fish moving in but not in the numbers we would like to see. The counts over the dam have been around 100 per day. The overall count is a little above last year. Every day I go out there and hope the fish have moved in. Most the boats are getting a few fish per day but not limits yet. But that can change at any time. I did hear about some good fishing on the lower river so that is good news and they are on the way. Most the rivers up the coast are doing about the same, we are all waiting for the big push of fish. I think they are just late this year. Our Steelhead season on the Klamath River is already looking good. There have been a bunch moving in the lower river. I will start fishing for them in late Oct and through Dec on the Klamath. I do have some days left so if you want some great fishing with no crowds the upper Klamath is the place. Hope to see you on the river.

    Hello fishermen; I just got back from fishing the Kenai River in Alaska. Sorry about not having any reports but had no computer . The fishing was ok this year, was not our best but I did catch a few nice Salmon. The fish were not as big as we usually see, I averaged about 35 pounds per fish. I did get a few over 50 pounds and my biggest was 62 pounds. I am now moving to fish the Sacramento River out of Corning for the Salmon. There are few fish moving into the river now and the fishing has been ok. It should only get better as we get to the end of the month and into Sept. I do have a few days left so if you want some great fighting and great eating Salmon the Sac is the place to go. Hope to see you on the river.

    hello fishermen; The Salmon fly hatch is on!!!! There are plenty of flies for the fish to eat now and they are coming to the surface for them. I fished the other day and did very well. We used dry flies all day and had plenty come up and go for them. A lot of them missed but we had plenty that did get a hold. We landed over 30 nice Trout and a few very big ones. Most the fish were about 10 inches but we landed 3 over 18 inches. The biggest was 21 inches and about 4 pounds. It is great seeing these big fish come to the surface and grab that big fly. Some of the fish you can see come form the bottom and get the fly. I really do not think there is a more fun way to catch Trout. This great fishing may last another week or two so you better get in on the fun. Hope to see you on the river.

    Hello fishermen; Well the Klamath River is down now and the trout fishing is getting pretty good. The river is at 1400 cfs and in good condition. I fished the other day and landed about 25 trout. Most of them were 8 to 12 inches but we did catch a few over 15 inches. The biggest was 17 inches. We tried just about everything but the best was plugs. I tried flies a lot but really could not get them to bite them that good. With the warm weather we are getting now the fly fishing should get better. We have had a few hatches but most of them are still to come. The Salmon and Stone fly hatch should be a lot better this year, with the river down. We should start seeing them by the end of the month. This hatch is one of my favorites. The flies I use are so big it makes it easy to see and cast. So if you want some great action and a chance at a big trout on the surface the upper Klamath River is the place. The hatch will last into the later part of June depending on the weather.    Hello fishermen; The fishing season on the Smith and Chetco rivers are over now. The Chetco River is closed at this time and the Smith is still open from the forks down. So you can still fish the Smith for the few downers that are left. We did not see to many fresh fish the last part of the season, but there are a few Blue backs in the system. Over all the season was a good one. We did not see a lot of real big Steelhead but we did catch a lot of fish. The rivers stayed at great levels most of March this was do to the snow melt. This did make the water pretty cold and the fish did not bite as well, but at least they did. The only river that is fishing pretty good at this time is the upper Rogue. There are still a few Steelhead coming up and there are downers still around. I will be fishing there for this month and then I will start fishing for the Trout on the upper Klamath River. This will depend on the run off and the weather. But by May we should be looking good for the fly fishing and then the Salmon fly hatch will start toward the end of the month. So if you want a lot of action and some warm weather the upper Klamath is the place to be. Hope to see you on the river.

  Hello fishermen; Well we have had some nice weather this past week. It has not rained on us for about 5 days. You would think the rivers would be in perfect shape but they are not yet. The past few days has been really warm and now the snow is melting and keeping the rivers high. The Smith is now down to 17 feet and the Chetco is down to 5550 cfs. The fishing has been pretty good for the conditions. I have been on the chetco this past week and averaging about 4 fish a day. We have been catching a lot of downers but we are seeing more fresh fish showing up. Which is great for this time of year. One day this past week I landed 4 fresh ones. Thought we were really doing great, but not so, the next day we did not get any. But since then I am getting about one a day. It is just going to be a great March with the fish we are seeing in the system. So if the weather holds out the fishing should be great. Hope to se you on the river.

   Hello fishermen; The weather has not really slowed down but at least we are fishing every day. The snow level has come down so we are not getting the run off. Both rivers are fishing now, but the Chetco was out yesterday by noon. The Smith river is at 17.5 feet and the Chetco river is at 4200 cfs. The fishing has been ok. The fish have not been biting well the past few days. Not sure why but we know they are there. This new rain we are getting now should bring in some more fish. The fish we are catching are pretty fresh, so there are new fish moving into the systems. We are seeing a few more downers now which is about right. This rain should start bringing more of them out of the upper river. So the action should to get better. Hope to see you on the river.
